Pascagoula K9 Shot By Armed Suspect, Handler Returns Fire

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Investigators have released that a Pascagoula K9 has been shot after engaging with a suspect in the woods.

Mitchell Wayne Robinson, 36, a homeless man, was in a wooded area in Helena when he fired shots at a Pascagoula officer, striking the K9.

The handler returned fire, hitting the suspect.

Officials report that the incident took place around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon on Aster Street near the Helena community in Jackson County.

Robinson was arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm.

The K-9 is currently at an emergency veterinarian in Mobile, and the suspect was taken to a nearby hospital.
