Brandon man arrested in May crime spree

A Brandon man has been arrested in a series of home and auto burglaries, according to Brandon Police Department.

A release from BPD on Tuesday says officers responded to calls regarding home and auto burglaries, vehicle thefts, and vandalism that occurred from May 2-17 at multiple residences on Shelby Circle in Brandon.

On June 8, Malcolm Jamal Spann, 30, of Brandon, was identified by Brandon PD detectives and arrested in connection with this series of crimes. Spann had been previously arrested on June 6 for two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance. He now faces an additional two counts of House Burglary, two counts of Auto Burglary, two counts of Auto Theft, and one count of Malicious Mischief.

Spann is currently being held in the Rankin County Jail, and is scheduled to appear in Brandon Municipal Court on Wednesday.

This is an ongoing investigation; additional charges are possible.
