A man from New Albany has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in relation to a homicide in Alcorn County over the weekend.
On Monday, the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office discovered a dead body on the side of a rural county road.
The victim was identified as 22-year-old Quantavis T. Fernando of Corinth.
Upon investigation, authorities were able to identify a suspect, Courtland Alexander Bradley, 25, of New Albany. Evidence linked Bradley him to the victim as well as the crime scene.
During the process of applying for an arrest warrant for Bradley, it was discovered that he had just been arrested on unrelated charges in Union County.
Investigators contacted the Union County Sheriff’s Office and placed a hold on the suspect.
Around the same time, investigators were also able to locate a vehicle that is alleged to have been used in the murder.
A search was conducted on Bradley’s 2013 black Volkswagen Jetta, and evidence inside the vehicle linked it to the crime.
Bradley has been transported to the Alcorn County Jail, and charged murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Bradley also has a hold for the MS Department of Corrections.
The investigation is ongoing.
