Three teenagers were the victims of a Jackson shooting this weekend.
The incident left 14-year-old Johnquis Kelly, a ninth-grader at Murrah High School, dead from gunshot wounds.
Two other minors were shot and critically injured during the shooting, according to police.
Montavis Primer, 17, was shot eight times. Antonio Gross, 18, was shot four times.
According to the Jackson Police Department, shots were fired around 2 p.m. Saturday on Sedgwick Court, where the teens went to pick up some shoes.
While picking up the shoes, a gray vehicle pulled up and opened fire with an assault-style rifle into the black Honda the teens were in, killing and injuring the minors. Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene. the Teens were taken by private vehicle to UMMC. The status of the two victims is not verified.
Jackson Public Schools have expressed their grief over the senseless killing.
A Facebook post made on Monday sent out condolences and notified students that counselors have been made available for students and faculty.
No arrests have been made in the case. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS.
