A Vicksburg police officer is hospitalized and unresponsive after being in a 2-vehicle wreck Sunday.

Authorities say officers were chasing a suspect — one officer on foot and another driving with lights on in his vehicle, when the crash happened on Mission 66 near Clay Street.

The officer was exiting a fast food restaurant when it collided with a Chevy Silverado. Both drivers were transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the pickup truck was said to have minor injuries, but the officer, who was breathing, was unresponsive.
