Four people are behind bars in a robbery on the Alcorn State University Campus.
On February 28, Alcorn State University Police Department called and requested assistance from the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department in regards to reports of a robbery in the Medgar Evers Parking lot on campus.
Witnesses stated that four individuals jumped out of a white Chevrolet Tahoe and robbed them of their car keys, wallets, money and cell phones.
Alcorn campus police officers apprehended Jarrell Johnson, who was the driver of the white Chevy Tahoe, and bought him in for questioning. Johnson was later turned over to the Claiborne County Sheriff Department. During this investigation, Chief Deputy Sykes and the Alcorn State University Police Department were able to identify Taurus West, Ronnie Griffin Jr., and Larry Griffin, Jr. as the other three persons of interest.
The four were officially charged with two counts of strong-arm robbery each and their initial court appearance was scheduled for March 8. This case has been bound over to the next Grand Jury.
