On Tuesday, just after 8:30 a.m., Moss Point Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 6000 block of Elder Street in east Moss Point. Officers arrived on the scene and found Willie Hurd, 43, of Moss Point suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot.
Hurd indicated that there were other shooting victims and officers located Tremaine Moore, 38, of Moss Point, in the yard of the residence deceased from a gunshot wound and Marcus Davison, 42, of Pascagoula, inside the residence also deceased from a gunshot wound. Hurd was transported to Singing River Hospital for treatment to the wound to his foot. Detectives quickly arrived on scene. They were assisted by agents of the South Mississippi Metro Enforcement Team, the Pascagoula Police Department Crime Scene Unit, and investigators from the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. Officers worked throughout the day gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Hurd was released later in the afternoon from the hospital, but was immediately arrested and charged for possessing a felony amount of marijuana that was located in his home during the execution of the search warrants related to the shooting.
The evidence that detectives collected indicated the Mr. Hurd was the assailant and had shot and killed both Tremaine Moore and Marcus Davison.
In addition to the felony narcotics charge, Hurd is also being charged with two counts of First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
